@Wari1909: I have Cloak & Dagger taking place somewhere around Luke Cage season 2 and here's why:.Oreilly mentions to Cloak briefly that her friend Misty Knight also knows a guy with abilitys in Harlem. Well Misty doesn't meet anybody like that until Luke Cage season one. Also after the Defenders Misty doesn't even know her friend O'Reilly got transferred to New Orleans. Therefore O'Reilly must have left after Defenders during Mistys recovery. After all during Luke Cage season 2 Misty doesn't realize Orielly left until the other detective told her. Despite Cloak & Dagger self contained calendar and dates, the crossover references seem to make more sense then the actual dates on the show. Therefore I would place Orielly arriving in New Orleans shorty after the events in Defenders and no later than Luke Cage season 2.
@OrdemDoGraveto: I don't buy this tier division you made. It's eighter canon or it isn't. But I agree that the comics are not really canon. You may consider then as non-canon parts of the MCU, in the sense that unless they contradict anything from the canon, you can consider that things did happened in the way portrayed in the comics. But as the shorts and TV shows go, they are all canon. Sometimes, things don't work well in the continuity, like the timeline regarding homecoming, but that's inevitable in such a large universe. That don't mean homecoming is not canon, as it don't mean that Cloak & Dagger aren't canon as well. PS: Do a Last Jedi episode, it will be hilarious hahahaha
@jessica8564: The contradictions are a problem, so we look to dialogue. Luke Cage S2 has Brigid O’Reilly having left New York recently, and the end of Cloak and Dagger references Destiny Gonzalez from Runaways. Not to mention, the Rand reference wouldn’t make any sense if Danny weren’t back, since there were no Rands thought to be alive. You prioritize props over actual dialogue and direct connections, and arbitrarily chose 2015. 2017 fits better, since the end of Season 2 has a direct reference to being at the same time as Runaways S1, which is firmly placed in December 2017.
@Ereheru: Great video! I enjoyed this video very much, except for the parts when you mentioned either "The Defenders" and "Iron Fist", at which point I became momentarily sad, remembering how bad those shows were. You are my "go to" historian for these sorts of things, and I am proud to support you and Jenn on Patreon. Keep up the excellent work, and if you ever make a show "Does It Have To Be Canon?", I want to nominate "The Hobbit" films.
@letstec: I think while they exist in the MCU the MCU doesn't they exist. If you think about it Cloaks powers would have been usefull in major fights and he could've prevented alot of stuff. It feels like after starting to film the show and reading more into the powers the writers and producers realised that their duo or atleast Cloak was way to strong for a little spin-off series and while hinting at it they also tried to distance themselves from the MCU.
