Responding To The Criticisms, Plot Holes, & Unanswered Questions (Before Vought Rising)
The Boys Season 5 Episode 8 Reaction
Greg & Coy are going through the biggest fan complaints, unanswered questions, and supposed plot holes from The Boys Season 5 Episode 8: “Blood and Bone.” After our initial finale reaction, we wanted to take more time to respond honestly to the backlash around Homelander’s death, the “Scorched Earth” hype becoming more of a “Scorched Oval Office,” the V1 power scaling, Butcher’s rushed genocide ending, Soldier Boy getting wasted, Gen V being underused, and that massive virus sprinkler plot hole at Vought Tower.
Was The Boys ending actually satisfying, or did the finale feel rushed like Game of Thrones Season 8? Did Homelander feel too weak after getting V1? Should the final battle have been bigger? Did Kimiko’s radiation powers feel earned? Was The Deep’s octopus death hilarious or underwhelming? And what the hell happened to Soldier Boy?
Join us as we react to the biggest complaints, questions, memes, and plot holes surrounding The Boys Season 5 finale, including the Homelander begging meme, Butcher killing Homelander, Sage getting away with everything, Hughie and Starlight’s ending, Ryan losing his powers, and whether this was a fitting conclusion for one of the most talked-about superhero shows ever.

@kimberlyfoster9831: Hello, I had hoped to send this privately because I don’t want a whole bunch of blowback, but that doesn’t seem to be an option so here goes:Coy I like you very much both of you really I appreciate your positivity, but the problem with being positive it can come off disingenuous. I think you’re going for a Ted Lasso kind of positivity but it’s coming off as something else. I really do appreciate you. you’re so smart. You’re so on top of things and well researched and you have an understanding that is so valuable. It’s just that you don’t have a critical eye and you mentioned that you didn’t want to be a critic and I respect that I’m not talking so much about being a critic, but I am talking about critical thinking. this season of the boys was a hot mess it just was it’s heartbreaking. You know you say that everybody wants to hate on it. I, but everything people are pointing out are legit reasons to beef and one of the reasons why even though I’m subscribed to you, but I don’t watch you very often is because you don’t have any kind of critical eye towards what you’re watching, you know you just wanna celebrate and so do I, but if it’s not there, it’s not there so when you come out with metaphorical Pom poms despite it being not there, it’s hard to relate to you as a reaction channel. It’s hard to relate to you as somebody that I can agree or not agree with it’s just hard to relate. I wish it weren’t the case because you guys can be very funny and a lot of fun to watch, but it kind of comes off as being in the pocket of the production. I know that is not the case but when you’re clearly not seeing what the rest of us are, well, you see how someone could come to that conclusion. I understand where you’re coming from regarding everybody being so toxic and hating everything and that’s real, but I don’t think it’s that here and I think you can cast a more critical eye without hate. To have such a great show.totally tank is a legit complaint not hate. Some of the reviews that said it kind of became what it was critiquing and that’s a legitimate critically thought out argument. That’s what I was hoping to hear from you. Particularly because you have the background to provide that argument. Conversely, you could have roasted it. Something other than cheerleading it. Is my point. Look I don’t agree with you on a lot of things, particularly theatrical releases. But I always respect you. I just can’t trust your opinion. When you tell me what comics are good, I raise an eyebrow. Does that make sense?
@0s0s0l0s_ttv: I think we deserved SOME level of mass destruction from Homelander, like at least the vought tower and everyone inside of it, maybe squashing some military resistance before the battle really breaks out too. It's been teased since day one so that's gonna really drag the reputation of the finale. So many logical errors in the finale and rushed outcomes. However, there's some really good stuff in there, Butchers death really hit home for some reason and brought tears to my eyes, how Homelanders death is handled after the blast was executed pretty perfectly, and some of the closure was nice. Still though, that oval office fight blows, kimiko isn't targeted by homelander when she's threat #1 and Homelander easily lazered her in half in ep 1, it was too easy to hit the blast on homelander, wish they had stronger writing to work on a plan for that. I still wouldn't group this finale with GOT and ST, those are worse for sure. Lacks epicness and that's the main disappointment.
@jwolfanger99: Coy, Hope off your high horse brother. All of your response to valid is criticism is to either lump us with people who want AI movies or to say ‘well I didn’t expect it to be that way because I know how movies and tv are made’. We aren’t just making these things up in our mind, the show was setting itself up to have this big world ending scale finale, that’s why one of the biggest complaints about the final season is the pace. It’s not because we all didn’t appreciate character moments, it’s that we were wondering why we’re having so many slow character moments while also being told homelander is ascending to godhood and watching him get closer and closer to full on apocalyptic threat. The show set the expectations. It’s not a bunch of idiots who just want to see action figures bashing into each other, it’s because the show has been laying the groundwork and talking about it for multiple seasons.
@funnygamerguy1590: i think they shoulda had 2 endings or just have a moment like when he lazered the crowd have homelander zone out and imagine himself destroying everything i dont think we needed that for the story but i do think we deserved to see it even as a kinda dream sequence i wish we somehow got it but i do agree with the story not needing it but fans need it so a dream sequence or if they had dropped a secret episode after the finale and it was the same episode but instead homelander wins i think that woulda been cool bc then fans coulda chose the ending they wanted instead of having a divide but youll have a divide no matter what i mean the worm guy said it best finale episodes of a series are always the worst you can never make everyone happy but i think if we got the same episode twice with 2 separate endings with it being fans decision i think that woulda been perfect
@Mstngklrz06: At the end of it… @ 1:07:10 , that so sad that we've come to that due to a bunch of the cry baby bitches on the web that just have to find flaws in everything and feel the need to scream from the rooftops about it. I know in yall business ya kinda have too… but at the end of the day, who gives a shit about others opinion on your opinion? You shouldnt find loving something in entertainment scary because of people telling you whats wrong in it. If you enjoy it, thats what should only matter. And damn, so many people doggin Coy, stating that all he did was defending the finale. Like did you see the video, he made points, valid points about everything they spoke of. He said he didnt like certain things as well. It just seems like some people cant enjoy anything nowadays.
