The Boys is set in a universe in which superpowered people are recognized as heroes by the general public and owned by a powerful corporation, Vought International, which ensures that they are aggressively marketed and monetized. Outside of their heroic personas, most are arrogant and corrupt.
The Boys bury Frenchie while Homelander prepares a national address declaring his godhood. Sage provokes Kimiko to test if her blast works, losing her powers before leaving to live a normal life. Ashley helps the Boys infiltrate the White House through a tunnel as Homelander addresses the nation. Annie fights the Deep and blasts him into the ocean to be killed by an octopus, while Hughie and M.M. lure Oh Father away and kill him. Butcher and Kimiko confront Homelander, and Ryan joins Butcher in restraining him while Kimiko blasts and strips Homelander, Butcher, and Ryan of their powers. Homelander begs for his life, but Butcher kills him. Subsequently, Ashley is removed from the presidency and Edgar regains control of Vought. Butcher takes the virus to Vought Tower to release it. Hughie follows and reluctantly kills Butcher to stop him; the Boys disband. M.M. renews his wedding vows and takes in Ryan, Kimiko goes to France, and Hughie and Annie prepare for the birth of their daughter.
The series primarily focuses on two groups: the titular Boys, vigilantes looking to keep the corrupted heroes under control, and the Seven, Vought International’s premier superhero team. The Boys are led by Billy Butcher, who despises all superpowered people, and the Seven are led by the egotistical and unstable Homelander.
