The Boys is set in a universe in which superpowered people are recognized as heroes by the general public and owned by a powerful corporation, Vought International, which ensures that they are aggressively marketed and monetized. Outside of their heroic personas, most are arrogant and corrupt.
Homelander, who has developed a god complex, tasks Firecracker to present him as a god. The Boys, still without the virus, go to Fort Harmony to find the V1. They find out that the Supe Bombsight has taken all the V1 vials. Homelander and Soldier Boy arrive, and Homelander mocks him, saying he injected himself with V1 because he felt inferior to his brother; Soldier Boy locks Homelander in a chamber of enriched uranium to prevent him from getting V1. Frenchie takes Soldier Boy to Quinn, with whom he had a past. After Frenchie provokes him, Soldier Boy kills Quinn, returning everyone to normal. Homelander leaves the chamber and spares Soldier Boy’s life after seeing him vulnerable. Annie meets her father, who admits he always loved her, and returns with the team. At a church service, Oh Father proclaims Homelander as a prophet of God.
The series primarily focuses on two groups: the titular Boys, vigilantes looking to keep the corrupted heroes under control, and the Seven, Vought International’s premier superhero team. The Boys are led by Billy Butcher, who despises all superpowered people, and the Seven are led by the egotistical and unstable Homelander.
