Being a 17 Pro, but only bigger, I was really tempted to just reuse what I wrote in our first unboxing haha! However, I think the color deserves a special mention.
If “orange is the new black”, and I can’t have black, then, following this twisted logic, I guess choosing this one is somehow the most rational alternative. Nothing against Deep Blue, but it’s such a half-step to black for me. Silver is a timeless classic, but my 17 Pro got first dibs already. If this Pro Max can’t be discreet enough, it might as well go loud and proud. And loud and proud it certainly is; nothing like the uncommitted, indecisive Desert Titanium from last year.
I’m not sure what makes this orange “cosmic.” What its shade and saturation remind me of are those North Face hiking jackets and the Apple Watch Ultra. With this color, Apple most likely intended to position the 17 Pros as equipment to be used in an active, outdoorsy setting. If that is so, then it’s pretty ironic that this year’s Pro models are Aluminum, which easily scratches and dents. Nevertheless, for the sake of thermals and performance, I support the move!
Now, what to do with having both a 17 Pro and a Pro Max? I’m planning to cover that in a future video. Hopefully I follow through hehe.
Pasting my thoughts on the AirPods Pro 3 & Apple Watch 11 from the 17 Pro unboxing here:
“Despite the iPhones being the main characters, it’s the AirPods Pro 3 that I was excited about the most. Whether it sounds better is up for debate (IMO the APP2 sounds more well-rounded), but its Active Noise Cancellation is definitely better. Funny story, I thought the unit that I got was defective because of the whistling sound the right AirPod was making. Turns out my right ear was just congested! The whistling stopped after I had my ears professionally “declogged” by an ENT haha.
Now, I have to admit, I got the Apple Watch Series 11 mostly because it’s part of the Apple Trio (iPhone, AirPods, Watch); traditionally, our iPhone unboxing videos always include all three of them. And so for the first time, we got the base, non-cellular variant this year. It won’t replace my Titanium Series 10, and I’m most probably gonna sell it after. We’ll see. Timepieces are fashion accessories as well, so I tend to upgrade only when the new one has a different (and presumably better-looking) design.”
