For the first time in years, a major player—Powdr Corp—is backing away from resort ownership. The company sold Killington, Pico, Eldora, and Silver Star, and nearly let go of Mt. Bachelor too.

It’s a sharp pivot from the buy-everything strategy we’ve seen dominate since the early 2010s. Whether this is a one-off or the start of a bigger trend remains to be seen—but it’s a rare moment where less consolidation might actually be on the table.
