How’s it going guys and geeks. Welcome to the Geekritique Show. My name is Dakota and today we’ve got a lot to cover as we discuss the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it’s thus been released and the rough order in which everything so far fits in chronologically. This is version 4.0 of this video, released the week of February 16, 2018 and if everything works according to plan, I should have another version with updated information and releases right around the release of Ant-Man & the Wasp. So, if you haven’t already, please subscribe to stay up to date with this list if you enjoy it and the MCU in general. We’ve adjusted some of the orders previously assigned as better information has been discovered, and we’ve added 5 new items to the roster, including Black Panther and Infinity War.

If you’re trying to watch all the films, series, one-shots and web series in chronological order, you’ve found the right video. But it’s not quite so simple, for various reasons we’ll get into throughout the course of the video. Today I’ll be showing you the best way to watch each without breaking up the movies or seasons unnecessarily for an adequate and generalized chronological order. We’ll also add the total watch time at the bottom of the video. Of course, beware of spoilers.

Though not the first Marvel film to be released, the majority of Captain America: The First Avenger takes place before the events of any other film or tv show, with the exception of the odd flashback or two in certain films or series, which is one of the rules we’ll use in mapping this chronology. If the majority takes place in the past, present, or future, that’s where the whole will land on the list. After credits scenes, flashbacks, or flash forwards does not determine where the whole is to be placed. The end of The First Avenger sees Steve Rogers in, relative-to-release, present day New York City, which turns out to be Fury’s Big Week — something we’ll talk more about in a bit.

Before we do that, let’s go back to the 40’s as Peggy Carter plants the seeds that will eventually become S.H.I.E.L.D. in Marvel’s Agent Carter season 1.

But then, of course, watch season 2.

Next you should watch the Marvel One-Shot, Agent Carter, a short film available on the Iron Man 3 home video release, which sees the birth of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Though as of uploading this we don’t have any footage of the Captain Marvel film, it has been announced that the film will occur primarily in the 90s and will feature a Skrull invasion, a shapeshifting alien race.

Leaving the 90s behind, let’s head over to the modern day, with the release of the film that started it all, Iron Man. With the success of Iron Man, a B-list hero in the pantheon of Marvel comics characters, this film opened the doors to a number of different films and series, including the aforementioned Captain America and it’s Peggy Carter spinoffs.

And thus starts Fury’s Big Week, which is a number of films that take place roughly around the same 1 week period. It’s confusing, so instead of stopping and starting each individual film after every few scenes, let’s find the best viewing timeline. NOTE: the events outlined in the various end credits scenes don’t necessarily take place directly after each individual film, so we won’t be considering those in placing these films side-by-side chronologically.

@LeonardoSRR: Cloak & Dagger is apparently set in 2015! Because on Episode 1 (Exactly at 31:47), we see a security camera recording about Tyrone’s big brother getting killed with the date of 2007 and it was the same night as the Destruction of Roxxon Gulf platform plus thanks to that Roxxon event, its why Tandy’s dad died so on Episode 4 (Exactly at 5:40) While Tandy tells her mom a few reasons about why they should start a trial against Roxxon Corp, she says that her mother have been 8 years trying to make the same amount of money as they used to before her husband (Tandy’s dad) died! Plus On Episode 2, Tyrone’s dad says that its been 8 years since Tyrone’s older brother died. So 2007 + 8 = 2015! Tyrone is on the basketball team, so the basketball season in every school starts in January and ends in March! So I think it fits well just before “Avengers: Age of Ultron”!

@theblackgoatinthewoods: I havnt seen Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but is there an explanation to how Coulson survives his "death" in Avengers?Did he just fake it to put the Avengers into fightmode or did he really die but gets resurected? And heres some speculation…What if dr Strange are on Hydras watchlist because during his studies to master the eye of Agamoto (the timestone) he has not only learnd to make timeloops, mindjumps and serve/refill drinks for Asgardian thundetgods but also timetravle. So he has had fights with Hydra in the past and they view him as a dangerous enemy. Also about AoS season 5, if it happens in an alternet reality, could it happen after Thanos snaps his finger and remakes things?

@Volvagia0slayer: Part of Slingshot's story takes place during the AoS Season 4 midseason break, so even though the majority takes place before Season 4, this really needs to be an exception to that rule because otherwise you're not going to understand the parts of Slingshot that take place in the middle of Season 4. Also, since Luke Cage Season 2 can't take place after Civil War (or else he would have been forced to sign the Accords since he becomes renowned for his powers), but it has to take place after Iron Fist and The Defenders, Iron Fist and The Defenders need to be bumped up to some time before Civil War as well. Everything else is great though! (Just food for thought for v5.0)

@rontheclapper7555: Why hasn't runaways acknowledge anything that has happened in New York and what has happened there with the whole attack that's the one thing that I don't get cuz I just finished watching the sea reason I'm a little bit confused
